Explore Kuelap Fortress with its massive walls and stunning views. Go on a jungle trip to the Gocta Waterfall, third highest in the world. Visit Karajia, mysterious place where you will find the impressive and undisturbed sarcophagi. Hike to Revash to be amazed by this ancient burial site located in inaccessible cliffs.
Day 1 Arrival to Chiclayo & Tucume
Upon arriving to Chiclayo, by bus or plane, reception by a Peruvian Soul representativeĀ who will take a few minutes to brief us on our upcoming program.
We`ll then head to the famous Tumbas Reales Museum. This is one of Peru`s top museums and currently holds the Lord of Sipan`s outstanding gold collection.
After visiting the museum we continue our journey to Tucume an impressive complex of dozens of prehispanic pyramids belonging to the Lambayeque/Sican period (1000 to 1350 AD).
Once we leave Tucume we`ll head to hour country hotel located in the outskirts of this archaeological site. The rest of the afternoon is free to relax beforeĀ continuing our journey to Gocta next morning.

Day 2 Tucume to Gocta
Today we continue our scenic journey with aĀ 8 hour ride that takes us through the northeastern Peruvian Andean range, over the Porcuya mountain pass (7,000ft), crossing the rice fields of Bagua, and driving along the gorgeous Utcubamba Canyon to the small village of Cocachimba overlooking the stunning Gocta Waterfall.
The rest afternoon can be spent enjoying the hotels facilities with views of Gocta and the surrounding cloud forest.

Day 3 The Gocta Waterfall
After a good breakfast, weĀ prepare to take on a beautiful 3 hour hike to the famous Gocta Waterfall, one of the tallest falls in the world (771m). To reach the fall we follow a smooth path which crosses; first through cultivated fields and then goes into the cloud forest, home of the yellow-tailed woolly monkey, mountain sloth and the magnificent cock-of-the-rock. Those brave enough may want a dip in the base pool. Later we head back to the village and at the coordinate time we board our private transport and head to the āChilloā Country Manor, located in Tingo aĀ small village just on the base of the valley under the fortress of Kuelap.

Day 4 Kuelap
Departing from Chillo, if we are up for the challenge, we can choose to hike up to Kuelap, this 9 km hike is moderately demanding but provides nice views of the valley and a little adventure to keep us entertained as we ascend a through a pre Inca trail towards the fortress. It should take us around 3 hours to hike to Kuelap. On the other hand, if you wish to enjoy a more relaxed journey, we can simply take our private transport uphill. The journey by car takes approximately one hour. The fortified citadel of Kuelap is located above a mountain ridge at 9,850 feet. The towering walls and hundreds of roundhouses capped by the cloud forest always amaze first time visitors. We explore this pre Inca citadel which contains not only archaeological remains of singular value but also stunning views of the valley and the possibility to observe a wide variety of birds. After visiting Kuelap we head back to the charming ChilloĀ Country Manor.

Day 5 Revash and the Leymebamba Mummies
Todayās tour will take us from Tingo, to Revash and then onto Leymebamba. The first stop is at the village of Santo Tomas. From where we take a short hike to the grave-towers of Revash. A succession of Chachapoyas ātombsā located over narrow and inaccessible cliffs in shape of miniature houses which host the mummified remains of the elite ancestors. After lunch our route takes us by car along the Utcubamba valley up to the pleasant town of Leymebamba where we visit its famous museum. The museum contains not only a remarkable archaeological collection, ceramic artifacts and textiles but also 225 mummies that were salvaged from the mausoleums of Lake of the Condors. Time permitting we will visit the Quenti CafĆ© to see the world’s most famous hummingbird: the wonderful “tail spatula Colibri ‘.
We`ll then continue to Chachapoyas, the regional capital, where we`ll spend the night.

Day 6 Chachapoyas to Chiclayo
Today, at the coordinatedĀ time, we’llĀ board our private transfer and begin our return journey to Chiclayo to connect with our flight or bus ride to Lima.
